Emerging Grid and Evolving Paradigm of Education
Dr. Vahid Madani
Fellow IEEE, Executive Engineer, GridTology
Abstract: The electric power industry is transforming at an unprecedented rate. Reliability in delivering communicative and high-quality electricity is paramount for sustainable modern electricity grid. Collective minds are required to meet the challenges particularly as proliferation of new energy forms is exponentially rising. Transforming education curriculum is required. The future reliability and resilience of the electric grid will not remain stationary and needs to be governed by new research; the advances in telemetry, sensors, and data collection and processing must be driven by needs of the industry. This new grid will not look like our predecessors’ system. Thus it is needed to rethink the future education system. The purpose of this seminar is to grow the awareness of grid-related challenges and identify opportunities for educating new generation of engineers and researchers as the energy sector transforms.
