ECE Mentor Spotlight

Logan Dubuisson

Major: Computer Engineering

Classification: Senior

Hometown: Pass Christian, Mississippi

What is your favorite part about being a mentor for MSU’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering?
I probably spend hours on end explaining cool scientific and engineering concepts that I’ve been learning about to my friends and family, so getting to do so for new ECE students who share the same interests and curiosities is by far the most rewarding part of my working time on campus.

What makes Electrical and Computer Engineering at Mississippi State a good choice for potential students?
Beyond having a highly reputable engineering program at MSU as is, I think the ECE department has a strong core faculty that really cares about every student and puts the utmost effort into furthering our understanding of ECE, from the advising to the classroom.

What ECE class has been your favorite class and why?
I think my favorite class was, ironically, Electromagnetics I with Dr. Ryan Green. While the course content was extremely complex, we were always given the time and tools needed to comprehend the core concepts of the course. It was certainly as rewarding as it was challenging.

What is your favorite part about being an ECE major?
My favorite part is probably getting to work along like-minded engineers, whether it be my fellow students or my professors. We have a lot of bright minds here to inspire me to experiment and to work harder. Like the saying goes, “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you need to find a new room.”

What are some activities or experiences that you have had as part of your major and at MSU?

I have had the opportunity to work as an undergraduate research assistant and an ECE mentor. I’ve also worked at Leidos Inc. for two summers as an intern, and I have been a member of the IEEE SoutheastCon Hardware Competition team for two years. I also participate in the French Club and Chinese Culture Club with many of my friends from my French and Chinese language courses. I was also nominated for the Bagley College of Engineering Student Hall of Fame.
