Dr. Junbo Zhao, an assistant professor in Mississippi State University’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, was awarded the 2021 IEEE PES Outstanding Chapter Volunteer Award.
This honor, awarded by each chapter, allows for the recognition of a volunteer’s contributions. The Mississippi chapter recognized his service of promoting activities, increasing visibility and membership, and educating the next generation of power engineering students.
“Serving our power and energy community is always a great pleasure,” Dr. Zhao said. “I am pleased that the activities and impacts that I brought could really benefit people. It is a great honor to be recognized by IEEE PES, and I will continue to better serve our community.”

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Mississippi State University consists of 27 faculty members (including 6 endowed professors), 7 professional staff, and over 700 undergraduate and graduate students with approximately 100 being at the Ph.D. level.
